Vaccinations

Vaccinations (immunisations) are the cornerstone of your pet's health and happiness. At Stella Street Veterinary Clinic, we understand the importance of prevention. Our comprehensive range of animal vaccines ensures your pet's well-being, longevity, and quality of life. We've covered your furry friend, from dogs and cats to rabbits and ferrets.

When To Vaccinate?

  • Dogs:

Puppies should receive their first C3 vaccine between 6-8 weeks old, followed by shots at 10-12 weeks and 14-16 weeks. Around ten days after the 10-12-week vaccinations, your puppy can safely explore public spaces. The C3 vaccine guards against distemper, canine adenovirus, and parvovirus – all potentially life-threatening for young dogs. For sustained protection, annual booster shots are recommended.

  • Cats:

Kittens need their initial F3 vaccine at 8 weeks old, followed by 12 and 16 weeks of shots. Once their vaccinations are complete, your kitten can safely venture outdoors ten days later. The core F3 vaccine provides immunity against feline enteritis, feline calicivirus, and feline herpesvirus. We recommend vaccinating against feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia virus (FeLV) for outdoor or multi-cat households.

Microchipping

Microchipping is more than just a tag – it's a lifeline that ensures your pet's safety. At Stella Street Veterinary Clinic, we understand the worries of losing a beloved companion. Microchipping is a simple procedure that involves inserting a tiny chip beneath your pet's skin, usually between the shoulder blades. This chip has a unique identification number linked to your contact details. If your pet goes missing, shelters, veterinary clinics, and animal control centres can scan for the chip and help reunite you with your pet swiftly.
